At PSS we always do things with you, not to you.
That includes how we run PSS, and the support we give to people. You’ll always have a voice and a choice in how we support you; it’s your life, and we’re here to help you live it to the full. We work alongside people we support every day, in lots of little ways, to listen to what people want, make important decisions and get check we’re getting things right for you. It’s just how we do stuff round here. After all, nobody knows what it’s like to be in your shoes better than you – and you’re who PSS is here for.
Quality checking
We have an ace team of quality checkers at PSS. Quality checkers are people who have had support from PSS before, and knows what makes a good experience. They visit our different services and, working with our quality team, do their own inspections to make sure the support we’re giving to people feels right. If there’s anything we can improve on, our quality checkers let us know, and we hop to it. They also tell us when something we do is really good, too, so we can do more of it.
Peer support
When you’re in need of a bit of support, there’s nothing quite like spending time with someone who’s been exactly where you are. Our peer supporters are volunteers who work alongside our teams to help us get things right.
Co-production groups
We've got many different co-production groups at PSS. They're made of lots of people we support who come together once every few months and talk about what they want from our services. Anyone who has a good idea, or who thinks we can do something a bit better, can come and have a good chin wag about what they want to see happen at PSS. Our group often have a slot at one of our Board of Trustees’ meetings to tell them what they think we should do next.
Staff interview panels
The people we support are the most important people at PSS. So, if you come for a job with us, the likelihood is there will be someone we support on your interview panel who will give their views on whether you’re the right person for the job. This is always the case for our leadership roles.
When we first met I was in a very dark place and unable to be the mum I wanted to be to my girls, I couldn't see a happy future, if one at all, and I had no emotional connection with my new baby girl. With your support, advice and guidance that has all changed. I have got the fire back in my belly to be the most amazing mum to both my girls, look after me and make the best life for us I can. You have put me on the right path to write our new chapter in life and oh what a chapter it is going to be, I can tell you.
