Blind recruitment: where only your skills matter

We want to make sure our recruitment is fair, square and totally non-bias. Oppression exists, and it's important we do all we can to stamp it out. When you apply for a role with us, we'll use a blind recruitment process that means you'll be given equal opportunities no-matter how old you are, who you love, if you have a disability, if you're married or not, what your ethnicity is, or what you believe in.

What is blind recruitment?

Blind recruitment means that the only thing we know about you when you apply for a role with us, is what your skills are, and whether or not you can do the job. The team that's hiring you won't know any of your personal details or your background until much later in the process. That means that none of your personal information can sway the decision.

What happens when you apply for a role at PSS

Once you click to apply for one of our roles, you’ll be taken to Applied's website. Applied is the only hiring software with diversity and fairness built into every step of the process, and we’re very proud to partner with them to help you have a completely non-bias recruitment experience.

Once you register your details on the site, you’ll be asked for your information like your age, gender, ethnicity, etc. You’ll also be asked questions around whether your parents went to university and whether you had free meals at school. This helps Applied measure socio-economic factors of our applicants. These questions are set by Applied's experts based on extensive research and expertise. You can find out more about this here.

Your background information is anonymous

This information that you give to Applied is completely anonymised, and we never see answers linked to your name, so it doesn’t form any part of our decision-making. Applied sends us combined data about all the applicants we get for a role (and only when there’s enough applicants to make sure that your answers can remain anonymous). We report on this info every quarter, helping us make sure that there's nothing  in our process that harms the chances of success for candidates from global majority groups.

If you still prefer not to answer, that’s no problem at all as there’s also an option to select ‘prefer not to say’.

The only information about your background that we will see about you is if you tell us that you need us to make some reasonable adjustments at any part of our process.
